Volunteers Make It All Happen
At the International Horsemanship Foundation, volunteers are the heart of everything we do. We welcome and appreciate all levels of involvement and recognize three key types of volunteers:
1. Team Leaders
Team Leaders take the lead on specific areas such as programs, administration, or marketing. They may work independently or collaborate with other volunteers to move their team’s goals forward.
2. Long-Term Volunteers
Long-term volunteers commit to helping with ongoing tasks for an indefinite period. Many become integral members of the IHF family, growing into new roles and responsibilities over time.
3. Short-Term Volunteers
Short-term volunteers join us for a specific event or project. While some move on once the task is complete, others enjoy the experience so much that they decide to stay and take on more. Short-term volunteers are not required to complete the full onboarding process outlined below.

Onboarding Process for Team Leaders & Long-Term Volunteers
To ensure a smooth and meaningful volunteer experience, all Team Leaders and Long-Term Volunteers go through the following steps:
Complete a Volunteer Application
Include your resume and references
Reference Check
We’ll contact your listed references
Approval & Agreement
If approved, you’ll be asked to sign a volunteer agreement
Projects Welcome Packet
You’ll receive a volunteer handbook and other helpful info
Time Tracking Setup
We’ll add you to our volunteer time tracking system
Task Assignment & Training
We will train you and assign tasks
